Early Bird Meditation and Yoga
Start
your day with the delightful practice of a 15 minute meditation followed by a
slow flow Anusara vinyasa class. This class is taught in a practice format
where the teacher practices alongside students.
Yoga Basics
By
focusing on basic principles of alignment, action, and attitude this course
empowers each student to engage the practice at his/her own level. This class is suitable for both active
beginners and practitioners who would like to strengthen their foundation. Classes are both therapeutic and
upbeat, instructions are clear, and questions are encouraged.
Slow Flow Anusara Yoga
In
this class, we combine the alignment principles of Anusara Yoga with the breath
in slow vinyasas (continuous flowing from movement to movement). Once the body
feels warm and fluid, we focus on the dynamics of specific, more challenging
poses, and then wind down in a way that is meditative and more inwardly
focused. Six months of previous yoga experience or one session of Anusara Yoga
Basics recommended for participation in this class.
Yoga for Teens
As a teen, not only does our body undergo tremendous change,
but also our role in the world begins to shift. Cultivating a yoga practice helps students create
a positive connection to their bodies and refine the vision for their lives. Our intention is to create a
welcoming atmosphere and to honor each student exactly where they are.
Yoga Mariposa (yoga for kids)
Yoga
Mariposa’s mission is to nurture the whole child through physical poses and movements
for the body, affirmations and character building for the mind, and meditation
and reflection for the spirit. With the use of stories, music, games, and props
children learn how to nurture their bodies from a holistic approach. They will
learn a number of animated asanas, or poses and stretching exercises that will
help increase flexibility, strength, coordination, and body awareness.
Children
also develop a sense of self-control, relaxation, and focus through the
breathing and visualization techniques used in class. Yoga Mariposa encourages
self-expression, imagination, and inner discipline; respect for all living and
nonliving things; and love and trust in one’s self.
Stages of Transformation (class descriptions)
- Caterpillars (2-3 years) —Two and three year olds are special. They love
to dance, sing, play, touch, explore—anything that involves moving. Children in the caterpillar class will
learn about their bodies through a series of active yoga movements, stories,
and dance. Parents are welcome to stay and join in on the fun. Class length: 30
minutes
- Chrysalis (4-6 years) —Whether it’s an exciting boat ride through the
Amazon or simply a walk in the woods, children in the chrysalis class will
enjoy acting out nature with their bodies using traditional asanas (yoga poses)
and fun adventure stories. For the busy caterpillar, the chrysalis stage is
also a time to rest. For that reason breath awareness and relaxation techniques
are also practiced to encourage children to be mindful of the moment and their
bodies. Class length: 45 minutes.
